Hello hello, welcome to my corner of the web, written authentically by myself over the course of however long. I hope this to be a place of catelog and expression as I work on various projects and learn a about a whole bunch of cool shit. I took a class that had opened my eyes to the old web and its true feeling of endless creativity, and despite our current state of the web allowing for such impressive forms of expression it somehow feels so trapped and reptetive thus the graphic above. Welcome to all who take the time to read.

Freedom is the enemy to creativity -someone. I think this has merit in a sense that you must restrict yourself in some category, may it be space, time, resources, or purpose (and I would say especially purpose), to create something that is specific and I think this very specificty in design, ability, and purpose is what creates to some extent, a beautiful thing.

[ Mini-Sub ]

I spent the end of the summer at home and had to find something to do (or else my body will physically stay asleep indefinetly) and was inspired by a coworker/mentor to get into audio electronics, and more specifically car audio. So I decided to find some old subs that my sister had and weren't using and repurpose them into her Mini-Cooper.

First one I took an old small logitech table subwoofer (like 2in speaker) and ripped out the elctronics. Thankfully the power conversion from AC to DC and the amp were seperate PCBs so all I had to do was measure the outputting DC voltage and cut those wires. Kinda suprised to find that the entire power conversion was literally a transformer and diode bridge into a couple caps, I mean makes sense but idk I think I was just surprised I like immediatly knew what was happening.

I found that the whole operations was running on 18V which conviniently enough was the same voltage that a bunch of hand drills use... so I took one, fucked around with the charger for it (by cutting some traces and shorting some wires) and got myself an easily interchangable battery pack for this sub.

Spent the next day cutting up the original box (which im not sure was for the better) to get everything to fit in a nice package and got a nice portable sub that was about as big as like 3 good hardcover books.

----- V2 -----

However since this was quite a tiny sub it basically did nothing to add to the cars audio but I thought it looked sick under the front seat. Alas I wanted something stronger so I took an old sub that didnt work from my sister's goodwill purchase and gave it life once more! This one was quite much bigger about a 6in diameter but with a whole lot more electronics. Unfortunately after some good staring at the PCB I discovered that for some reason it was running off of 3 different voltages that the power conversion PCB provided anddd I had like 2 days left at home so shit was not gonna happen.

Sooo I folded and got like an 8$ amp off amazon that made life soooo much easier as it litrally had 3 screw terminals for audio-in, power and audio-out and could run on any voltage from 12-24. So I literally spent like five mins taking all the pcbs out stripping the speaker wires and plugging that jawn into the amp, then ripping my "power-solution" from the other amp and screwing that in as well. This turned out much more powerfull (although def underpowered) and is safe to say improved that mini's ability to play D&B.
